This course meets the geometry requirement for graduation and geometry entrance requirements of four year colleges and universities. Geo means Earth (geography is mapping the Earth, for example) and metry means measurement. Geometry applies the arithmetic, algebra and reasoning skills you have learned to the objects you see all around you.

SUPPLIES NEEDED: The following items must be brought to class daily:
1. Graph Notebook 2. Ruler
3. Protractor 4. Compass
5. Scientific Calculator 6. Color Pencils

ATTENDANCE: It is essential for your child to attend class daily in order to be a successful student. Poor attendance will lessen their performance by resulting in lack of work produced and participation. Four or more tardies within a grading period will result in a “U” in Cooperation. IT IS CRUCIAL FOR YOUR CHILD TO BE ON TIME AND PRESENT EVERYDAY!

HOMEWORK: The importance of homework cannot be overemphasized. Homework will be assigned regularly and due as instructed (usually the following day). Homework will be checked and returned daily, but will not be collected until the end of the week. LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL FRIDAYS! It is your child’s responsibility to obtain homework assignments from fellow classmates. Students missing more than 50% of the assigned work within a grading period will receive a “U” in work habits.

QUIZZES: Quizzes will be given regularly on a weekly basis and will usually be announced. THERE WILL BE NO MAKE UP QUIZZES! I will take the results of your child’s last two quizzes and average them to replace that missing quiz grade. If your child misses two consecutive quizzes, then it will result in a “zero” to replace one missing quiz.

GRADING: The student’s final grade will be determined by notebook, class work, homework, quizzes, and final exam.
1) Notebook, Class work & Homework – counts for 30% of their grade
2) Quizzes – counts for 50% of their grade
3) Final Exam – counts for 20% of their grade

GRADING SCALE: 90% to 100% = A
80% to 89% = B
65% to 79% = C
55% to 64% = D
54% or below = Fail

I look forward to working with you and your child. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to call me at (323) 461-3891 (ASK FOR MS. QUINTANILLA) and schedule a conference.
